Our founder

James Caan CBE

Having founded Recruitment Entrepreneur in 2014, former Dragons' Den star and serial entrepreneur James Caan CBE plays a pivotal role in shaping each business within our portfolio. 

James has been in recruitment for over 30 years and invests in recruitment companies of all sizes across various geographies and sectors.

Alexander Mann, his first recruitment business, sold in 2013 for £260 million. His second recruitment venture, Humana International, grew to 140 offices across 30 countries.

As chairman, James takes an active role in the investment process, working closely with the Recruitment Entrepreneur team to support you and your company. His hands-on approach enables entrepreneurs to learn from his considerable experience in founding and scaling recruitment businesses.

With 3 million followers, James was named LinkedIn’s second most influential voice of 2017. His global network, both online and offline, has assisted our current CEOs in attracting the best talent, clients and candidates to their businesses.

Founding Recruitment Entrepreneur in 2013, former Dragons’ Den star and serial entrepreneur, James Caan CBE plays a pivotal role in shaping each business within the portfolio.

James has been in recruitment for over 30 years and invests in recruitment companies of all sizes across various geographies and sectors. Alexander Mann, his first recruitment business, sold in 2013 for £260 million. His second recruitment venture, Humana International, grew to 140 offices across 30 countries. His third sale was a collection of six recruitment companies to Graphite Capital in 2014 for £100m.

As Chairman, James takes an active role in the investment process, working closely with the Recruitment Entrepreneur team to support the portfolio partners. His hands-on approach and mentoring enable entrepreneurs to learn from his considerable experience in founding and scaling recruitment businesses.

Abid Hamid

Abid trained as a lawyer working in corporate finance before entering recruitment 25 years ago. He has worked in over 35 countries in various CEO roles and was investor and director of a UK FTSE250 company, as well as a Non-Executive Director for multiple recruitment companies.

He founded ARBP, which trained recruiters in 22 countries and has a wealth of experience in building and managing teams.

Abid oversees all group activity at board level and works closely with each of the portfolio partners to assist them in achieving their long-term growth plans.

Chief Financial Officer

Angus leads the finance team and assists with the investment cycle, conducting due diligence and project managing live origination deals. His involvement in the strategy and planning for the existing portfolio businesses serves to drive value creation.

Angus has a wealth of managerial and board-level experience and has recently completed an MBA at Cass Business School.

Angus oversees all financial operations across the group. His team manages and maintains cash flow, accounts, and payroll, and produces all budget plans and financial forecasting for businesses within the group.

Greg is Recruitment Entrepreneur’s COO, based in our Manchester hub.

With over 22 years’ business development and management experience, Greg develops our operational strategy and supports the portfolio partners with increasing sales performance and attracting the right talent to join them in the portfolio.

Greg assists the portfolio partners with setting their sales and business development strategy and ensuring the latest tools and infrastructure are successfully adopted and implemented across the group.

Daisy Betteridge

Operations Director

Daisy has been involved in the launch and growth of Recruitment Entrepreneur since inception and now oversees and manages all operational activity within the RE portfolio.

She implements best practice business guidelines and strategies and works closely with partners and other department heads to ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently, allowing the portfolio companies to focus on running their businesses.

Daisy oversees all HR, office, and IT systems and services, including the CRM across the group. She is also our GDPR ambassador and manages all compliance and regulatory-related activities.  

Sam Proctor

With over 22 years' of delivering marketing, communications, websites, PR, events and campaigns for global brands across multiple industry sectors, Sam brings a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Having spent the past 14 years specialising in recruitment, she sets the strategy for all externally-facing marketing activity for the Recruitment Entrepreneur portfolio and partner brands.

Sam oversees all the marketing activity across the group and ensures branding is consistent, websites are live, campaigns are running successfully, and advertising activity delivers ROI, as well as managing all external communications, PR, and events.

Having a large portfolio of different partner businesses makes Recruitment Entrepreneur a constantly evolving and exciting place to work. It also means we promote a diverse and collaborative culture of recruitment industry professionals and leaders, that all learn from each other.

Not only do our portfolio partners have their regular team and company events, and incentives, they also get to take part in the wider group activities and events. These can be anything from team-building days out with ex-military personnel, to quarterly group drinks, summer and Christmas parties, and an annual Excellence Awards ceremony to recognise and reward exceptional performance.

As a group, we support many charitable organisations, both locally and globally. We ensure all the businesses within the portfolio are able to raise money, donate, and volunteer as their company and respective teams choose. We're also signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant, which ensures all military personnel are treated fairly when looking for professional positions.

Most recently we've sponsored Help for Heroes and donated a percentage of profits to Black Lives Matter.

Latest charity

COACHING & MENTORING

Everything we do is based on upskilling and evolving our people's abilities. The key areas of our coaching and mentoring include: understanding company law and corporate governance; preparing detailed business and financial plans; and leadership development training. We upskill our people and entrepreneurs to understand how to deal with business growth challenges and understand their cost base as the business develops.

To ensure we provide the best development support for everyone, we run intensive future leaders courses, as well as enrolling in Cass Business School and Recruitment Guide training. We also source freelance training providers to cater for consultants and our wider business requirements.
